The Procedure

All-on-X: a full arch, fixed in place

Four to six implants anchor a complete, custom arch of teeth — replacing an entire row of missing or failing teeth in a single procedure, often with new teeth the same day.

Full-Arch Restoration

What Are All-on-X Dental Implant Reconstructions?

All-on-X dental implants are an advanced full-arch restoration solution designed to replace an entire set of missing or failing teeth using as few as four to six implants. These implants act as a secure foundation for a custom, fixed prosthetic that looks, feels, and functions like natural teeth.

Unlike removable dentures, All-on-X implants are anchored in the jaw—providing superior stability, comfort, and confidence in everyday life.

Candidacy

Are You a Candidate for All-on-X?

You may be a candidate if you:

  • Are missing teeth and/or your remaining teeth are not in good shape

  • Wear dentures and want a fixed, permanent solution

  • Want a long-term alternative to removable appliances

Even if you’ve been told you’re not eligible for implants before, new technology may make treatment possible. The use of short implants has made it possible to place implants even when there is limited bone left.

Personalized Consultation

1. Your Consultation: Getting to Know You & Designing Your Smile

Your first visit is all about you. Using advanced 3D imaging and digital smile design, we'll get a clear picture of your smile and start mapping out your personalized treatment plan together. We'll talk through where your new implants will go, and we'll gather everything we need to begin preparing your very first set of new teeth, the ones you'll wear home on the day your implants are placed.

Have more questions than time allows? No problem at all. Many patients like to schedule a second consultation just to talk things through. There's no rush and no one-size-fits-all approach here, we go at whatever pace feels right for you.

Implant Placement

2. Your New Smile Day: Placing Your Implants

(Your second visit, if one consultation was all you needed)

This is the big day, and we've set aside plenty of time, usually around four hours, so nothing feels rushed and you're comfortable and well cared for throughout. Thanks to the digital planning from your first visit, we already know exactly where your implants will go, based on your CT scan and digital scans, so this appointment is about bringing that plan to life.

We'll gently remove any remaining teeth and place your new implants. Before you leave, you'll be sent home with a comfortable, fixed set of temporary teeth to wear while your implants bond with the bone over the next few months (usually about three), so you're never without a smile during your healing time.

Final Smile Prep

3. Preparing Your Definitive Teeth

After a few months of healing, your implants will have settled in nicely with the bone and your gums will be fully healed. This visit is shorter and easier, usually around two hours. We'll remove your first set of temporary teeth, take some simple digital scans of your healed smile, and get started crafting your final, permanent set of teeth.

Fitting & Refinement

4. Trying On Your
New Smile

This is where it all comes together. We'll try in the first version of your final teeth to check the fit and make sure it looks and feels just right. Sometimes we'll create more than one version along the way, that's simply part of making sure the end result truly reflects what you want. Every smile is different, and every patient moves through this stage at their own pace. If you need a little more time to get it just right, that's more than okay, it's exactly how it should be.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the All-on-X implant system?

The All-on-X implant system is a full-arch tooth replacement solution that uses four or more strategically placed dental implants to support a complete set of fixed replacement teeth. It is designed for patients who have lost most or all of their teeth or have teeth that can no longer be saved, providing a stable, natural-looking smile without removable dentures.

2. Am I a good candidate for All-on-X dental implants?

Most healthy adults who are missing multiple teeth or need full-mouth restoration may be candidates for All-on-X treatment. Even patients who have experienced some bone loss may qualify because the implants are placed at precise angles to maximize available bone. A comprehensive consultation, digital imaging, and 3D treatment planning will determine the best approach for your specific needs.

3. Will I leave the office with teeth the same day?

In many cases, yes. Many All-on-X procedures allow patients to receive a fixed temporary set of teeth on the day their implants are placed. While your implants heal and integrate with the jawbone over the next several months, you'll wear this temporary restoration before receiving your final custom-crafted prosthesis.

4. Will the procedure hurt?

We know this is one of the biggest concerns for our patients, so let's put your mind at ease. The entire procedure is done under local anesthesia — the same numbing used for routine dental work — so you won't feel any pain during the surgery itself. The only discomfort is a quick pinch from the initial injection, and after that, you're numb and comfortable throughout the roughly 4-hour appointment.

Once the anesthesia wears off and healing begins, it's normal to feel some soreness, especially during the first 5–7 days. Most patients manage this well with over-the-counter pain relievers like Tylenol or ibuprofen. If needed, we may also prescribe antibiotics to help prevent infection during healing.

After that first week, discomfort drops off significantly, and most patients feel back to normal in no time.

How long does treatment take?

Most cases are completed in about 4 months from start to finish, which includes roughly 3 months of healing after your implants are placed. But here's the good news: you won't be without teeth during that time. Most patients leave their second appointment with a full set of teeth that look great and function well, so you can eat and smile with confidence while your implants heal underneath.

Can I eat normally afterward?

You'll want to stick to soft foods for the first month after your implants are placed, giving everything time to heal properly. Don't worry, we'll walk you through exactly what to eat during this time with instructions tailored to your specific case.

How do I care for my implants?

Caring for your new teeth is simple: you'll brush them just like you would your natural teeth. We'll also show you how to use water flossers and other helpful tools to keep everything clean and healthy for the long run.

4. How long do All-on-X implants last?

With proper care, the dental implants themselves are designed to last for decades and often a lifetime. The final prosthetic teeth are also highly durable but may require maintenance or replacement over time due to normal wear. Regular dental checkups, professional cleanings, and good daily oral hygiene are essential to maximizing the lifespan of your new smile.

5. How is All-on-X different from traditional dentures?

Unlike removable dentures, All-on-X replacement teeth are securely attached to dental implants, so they won't slip, shift, or require adhesives. Patients typically enjoy greater chewing power, clearer speech, improved comfort, and a more natural appearance. Because the implants stimulate the jawbone, they also help reduce the bone loss that commonly occurs after tooth loss.

How much does All-on-X cost?

At our practice, All-on-X treatment is currently $30,000 per jaw, which covers 6 implants and a full set of 12 teeth. If you're treating both the upper and lower jaw, each is priced separately at this rate. Since pricing can be updated from time to time, please give us a call for the most current information and to discuss your specific case.
